OUR HISTORY

Joseph (Lee) Chancey founded Chancey Metals in 1986 after learning the art of metal machining and fabrication from his father, L. Chancey Sr., while working at Chancey Trailers. Early on, Chancey Metals excelled in the intricate work of custom ornamental fencing. Lee’s craftsmanship is still evident in many of our area’s historic landmarks, such as the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine. Lee’s commitment to excellence quickly led to the development of a first-class team of tradesmen and technical and managerial personnel. Lee and his mother, Mary Chancey, worked side by side building the company while earning a stellar reputation matched by few others in the industry.

Lee and Mary retired in the summer of 2020 after selling Chancey Metals to another Jacksonville, FL-based firm, Geddes Enterprises. Now with Owner Tim Geddes, and CEO, Steve Jenkins at the helm, the company continues to build on the Chancey legacy. Chancey Metals currently serves many of the country’s most successful and sought-after clients, completing projects throughout the southeastern US. With an ever-growing workforce of dedicated professionals, we continue to exceed customer expectations while investing in our employees, plant, and equipment.
